The Slit Mouthed Woman walks the streets of Japan, wearing a surgical mask hunting children. If you cross her way, she will stock you and ask you a question – ‘Am I looking beautiful?’ If your answer is no she would kill you with the sharp weapon she carries. And if the answer comes in Yes – she would uncovered her face and reveal her slit mouth and asks again – “Am I still looking beautiful?”

If the answer is no, she would kill one. If the answer is Yes, She would cut your mouth just like her’s, from ear to ear. There are many different tales about the answer that many people answers her – You look average. This answer confuses her and one can get an opportunity to run away.

Terrified, you struggle to answer her. If you say “No”, she pulls out a huge pair of scissors and kills you immediately, chopping off your head. If you say “Yes”, she takes her scissors and  slices your mouth from ear to ear, making you look just like her. If you try to run away, she will hunt you down and kill you, by slicing you in two. Few rumors says, People throw or offer hard candies or money to her to escape from her. Or by pronouncing one word thrice in front of her. The word is – Pomade. This makes her thinking and one can snicked away from her.

Kuchisake Onna has spread such an horror in the nation that people used to get scared of getting out of house. And even police protection was started to be given to students for going to school and coming back. But gradually by the mid summer of 1979 the rumors of her were vanished and now she is a dark and real horrified memory of Japanese people.

Some myths says, Kuchsake Onna was a very beautiful and self obsessed. Her husband was a Samurai who had been to a war but on returning from war he found Kuchisake Onna with someone else in uncomfortable conditions. So in anger of that he slit her mouth from ear to ear by his sword and told her now no one will think you’re beautiful. This made her an evil spirit who was wandering in the streets of Japan with her face covered under mask and searching for answers of her questions.
