Gujarat’s Surat is 2nd Cleanest City of India

As per wikipedia, Swachh Survekshan is an annual survey of cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation in cities and towns across India. It was launched as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, which aimed to make India clean and free of open defecation. So this survey is done every year, but this year the result was most talked and interesting because Surat, A mega city of Gujarat is ranked as 2nd cleanest city of India after Indore of Madhya Pradesh having population of more tha 1 lakh. So let’s know in detail how Gujarat’s Surat is 2nd cleanest city of India.

Its a very proud moment for CM Vijay Rupani and of course for Surti to achieve this rank for cleanliness and hygiene. But the question here is what is happening in Surat that is keeping the city clean, hygienic and green.

As mentioned by Dr Swapnil Patel from Surat Municipal Corporation is following the rule of 3Rs i.e. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. For that door to door garbage collection is being done. Waste is being divided as dry and wet waste to understand the reuse and recycle process. For recycling and reuse many different mechanism are being followed.

City can not be cleaned just by managing the household waste and garbage, garbage is there on roadsides also, so to manage that SMC has launched night cleaning mission, in which hundreds of night workers swipe and clean the roads. Road cleaning vehicles also performs the due duties to keep the city clean.

So now its all of ours responsibility to maintain our name in cleanest city and also to work together to reach the first rank in India along with world.
