Indian Government Banned 59 Chinese Apps Including Tiktok, UC Browser and More…

Amidst Corona Virus spread and unrest at LAC border between India and China, Indian Government banned 59 Chinese apps including tiktok, uc browser and more.

The ban was imposed under section 69A of the Information Technology Act and the provisions of the Information Technology Rules 2009.

The ban is currently temporary and is done reasoning the apps are engaged in activities that are “prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of India, security of state and public order.” It is mentioned that IT Ministry has received many complaints regarding the leak of confidential information of its users as India’s huge population is using many or almost all these app of China.

Many Indian citizen were demanding the ban and block of Chinese apps and products after Covid-19 spread and LAC unrest. And the Ministry has also got complaints regarding the unsecured and malicious activities and permissions demands of such apps. So the decision has been taken for scrutiny and now the Court will look into the matter and decide for the future unblock or permanent banned on these apps.
